Abba Story
How does this come from making soap?
I am Lorna Gómez, creator of Abba Artisan Soaps. I introduce myself so that you can know a little about me and know where the desire to make soap comes from. I am a mother, wife and titiguelimadrina, a lover of good coffee, I like the beach, traveling, walking, I love dogs, I enjoy and love making soap, but ... the most that fills me, apart from worshiping a living Christ , is to be with my family, my children, my husband and my great-nephew.
How did my passion for making soap come about?
I am an industrial chemist by profession and artisan certified by the Economic Development of Puerto Rico. I really enjoy inventing new things; well I'll tell you: my skin is sensitive and very sensitive to commercial products, I had been buying soaps and creams based on organic and natural products for years because I cannot resist anything that is abrasive, since my skin rejects it immediately. So, I promised myself that one day, I would learn and study thoroughly (since I had the opportunity in college to do the saponification process), the process of making soaps for myself and my family.
During all that learning and in the middle of the process, I fell in love with making handmade soap and it has become an experience that I not only want for my family, but I want to share it with all of you. During all this journey, in the creation of handmade soaps, I realized that I can help many people with the same skin conditions as me or just to enjoy a fun and different experience when it comes to bathing !!, as much as I like to use soaps that are not only good for my skin, but are not toxic or harmful to anyone.
With this in mind and with the unconditional support of my family, but above all with that of my husband, I decided to undertake what Abba is today (which means “Father”; referring to my Jesus), and here we are, with great enthusiasm and much faith; above all, faith !!
